Logan Girls' Volleyball Falls Short to Amador Valley
The Ohlone men’s soccer team played against Feather River at Fremont’s Central Park in their first home game of the season. Central Park will be Ohlone’s home pitch while the construction of a new field and stadium at Ohlone College is in progress. The Renegades had a tough matchup against the nationally ranked Feather River, who featured a host of international players. The match was back and forth to start, as both sides took time to get their nerves loosened and to explore the field. ... Full story

Andre Ward, Boxing Icon
The Logan Varsity Girls’ Volleyball team fell short to Amador Valley on Thursday, by the score of 0-3. Amador Valley came out serving very tough with their first server scoring 8 straight points to take an 8-0 lead over Logan in Game 1. The Colts found themselves in a big hole and were never really able to recover, as they lost by a final score of 14-21. Game 2 was more of the same, with Amador Valley serving tough and forcing Logan to settle for numerous free balls on their third contact. This kept the Colts on the defensive all game, eventually resulting in another 14-21 loss. ... Full story
Hayward native Andre Ward prepares for fight of the year, and superstardom

A native of the Fairview neighborhood of Hayward, Andre Ward has risen to stardom in the world of boxing, and is now considered by many to be the top middleweight boxer in the world. Ward attended Fairview Elementary, Bret Harte Junior High School, and Hayward High School before making his professional debut at the age of 20. Ward began his fight training when he was nine years old, when his father, Frank Ward, took him to King’s Gym in Oakland. ... Full story
