Fremont names Teacher of the Year
Superintendent’s Report: Hopkins Jr. High School recently won the National Science Bowl Competition (at the Junior/Middle School level), held in Washington D.C. Over 1,140 teams competed in the event. The victorious five member team is comprised of Catherine Zeng, Brian Tseng, Karthik Bharathala, Mark Choi, and Dhruv Muley. Fremont Unified School District (FUSD) selected Kennedy High School teacher, Jennifer Teguia, as “Teacher of the Year,” during a special reception held on May 8, at the District office.

Oskar and The Last Straw! Helping Kids Cope
Closed Session: In action taken prior to the Board meeting, Ms. Genevieve Randolph was approved as the new Principal of Mission Valley Elementary School. Superintendent’s Report: Fremont Schools’ Superintendent Dr. James Morris reported on the following items: He visited Forest Park Elementary School, and thanked the efforts of 60 dedicated parent volunteers who provide one-on-one tutoring to the students. ... Kids these days have a lot of stressors, and learning to deal with them effectively is the main focus of Oskar and The Last Straw!,’ the latest production by TheatreWorks, geared specifically for school-aged kids.
The script, the third in a series written by playwright Prince Gomolvilas, was co-commissioned by Palo Alto Unified School District and TheatreWorks of Silicon Valley, with input from Project Cornerstone (YMCA Silicon Valley), Steps to Success, and Project Safety Net. Locally, many elementary schools in Fremont and Milpitas recently had the opportunity to see the theatrical presentation, touring the Bay Area from February through April 27. ... Full story
