BART Silicon Valley Project, funding milestone for VTA

SAN JOSE, Calif. -- On Monday, March 12, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) received a $900M grant commitment from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for the BART Silicon Valley Berryessa Extension Project. A “signing” ceremony was held at the San Jose City Hall Rotunda at 10 a.m. to commemorate the largest project funding milestone in VTA’s history.

FTA Deputy Administrator Therese W. McMillan presented the $900M Full Funding Grant Agreement (FFGA), along with the first $100M allocation. Union City Station intermodal area open

UNION CITY, Calif. -- The station side of the Union City BART/Intermodal station opened on Monday, March 12, 2012, with the Central Accessway now accepting bus and passenger vehicle traffic. The new passenger drop-off and taxi stand on the North Busway is also in use. Only the northbound lane and drop-off area of the North Busway is open to passenger vehicles. Visitors should observe signage for “buses only” areas. This project is part of the City of Union City’s transit village that is under construction, east of the station.

Castro Valley Veterans Memorial breaks ground

CASTRO VALLEY, Calif. -- History was made on Saturday, March 3, 2012 as a dedicated band of volunteers and local dignitaries joined more than 200 members of the public to break ground on a permanent tribute to the sacrifices of military men and women: the Castro Valley Veterans Memorial. Register claims for LCD products purchased from 1999 to 2006

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. -- California residents, who purchased products with LCD panels (computer monitors, laptops and PCs) from 1999 to 2006, are encouraged to visit a new class action website for information on how to file a claim related to a half billion dollar settlement with manufacturers that engaged in price-fixing.

In October 2010, Attorney General Kamala D. Harris filed a lawsuit against 10 companies for engaging in price fixing of LCD panels from 1999 to 2006 that resulted in higher prices for California residents, businesses and government agencies. ...
