Innovative program to drive City’s economy

Launch of Shop Local Union City program
UNION CITY, Calif.
-- The City of Union City and the Union City Chamber of Commerce have launched a no-cost “Shop Local Union City” program that encourages residents, the local workforce and visitors to shop locally in our City. The initiative is an effort to increase public engagement with the businesses that drive Union City’s economy. Shopping locally has many benefits, both for you and your community.
Local businesses support the community by employing its citizens and paying taxes. Buying goods in your community helps maintain the City’s economic and cultural base. Additionally, with a multitude of local businesses, everyone benefits by providing greater product diversity and competition.
Shopping locally simply means consumers purchasing goods and services from any business in the City of Union City. Getting involved is easy - in an effort to increase participation in the Shop Local Union City program, the City and Chamber has implemented a FREE discount program that will help local businesses, add money to your wallet, help fund community programs and charity organizations such as Centro de Servicios.
Union City businesses interested in a FREE exhibitor table at the launch event should contact Christine Friday, City of Union City, Economic Development at (510) 675-5396 or Cfriday@UnionCity.org.
