Trio highlights menÕs soccer newcomers

Cal State University East Bay (CSUEB) menÕs soccer has announced freshmen newcomers Ali Arianmanesh, Michael Paiva, and Luigi Castillo will join the Pioneers in 2014. All three will make the short trek from their respective Bay Area high schools to play in Hayward.

Arianmanesh (San Ramon) was named to the Diablo Foothill Athletic League First Team as a senior for Dougherty Valley High School. He was an honorable mention selection as a junior in 2013. Ò(Ali) is a strong and versatile defender. We are looking forward to him being in our program,Ó said East Bay Head Coach Andy Cumbo.

Paiva (Livermore) earned East Bay Athletic League Second Team honors as a senior. The Granada High School defender earned honorable mention honors as a junior in 2013. |Ò(Michael) will help us a lot. He is a creative midfielder who continually develops,Ó praised Cumbo.

Castillo (Hayward) last played competitively for Hayward High School in 2012. That season the Farmers finished 18-5-2, 9-1-1 WACC and won the regular season West Alameda County-Shoreline title. ÒLuigi is a strong and assertive defender. He will tighten up our back line,Ó commented Cumbo.
