Mission San Jose High SchoolÕs Performing Arts Department hosts its 20th annual Jazz Gala to the theme of ÒRhapsody in Blue,Ó Friday, May 16. In celebration of the GalaÕs 20th anniversary, MSJ High School alumni will make a special appearance and perform alongside the schoolÕs award-winning choirs, Jazz Band, Orchestra, and Color Guard.

Guests will be treated to a three-course meal while being entertained by the schoolÕs choral and instrumental music groups. Capping the evening, guests are invited to take to the dance floor when the Jazz Band performs. All the while, revelers will have the opportunity to win raffle baskets and bid on a rich variety of collectibles, such as a framed original poster of the BeatleÕs Candlestick Park concert, and autographed sports memorabilia. Proceeds will be used for development and renovation of Mission San Jose High SchoolÕs Arts Department.

The theme revolves around George GershwinÕs iconic jazz symphony, ÒRhapsody in Blue,Ó and highlights San FranciscoÕs musical landmarks through dˇcor elements.

ÒRhapsody in BlueÓ will take place at the Fremont Marriott. Before May 1, general admission tickets are $75 per person; $90 after May 1 (members of MSJ Universal Performers eligible for discount). Tickets can be purchased from or from the MSJ Universal Performers: (510) 668-6077.
