Teen holds fundraiser
Submitted By Al Bruckner
Allison Bruckner became a Bat Mitzvah (A Òcoming of ageÓ ceremony in the Jewish tradition), on February 15, 2014. As part of this process, she needed to complete a community service activity. Combining her love of basketball and her dislike of cancer, she created a free throw shoot-a-thon to raise money for the American Cancer Society, soliciting support from family and friends.
At the Silliman Center in Newark, on January 19, 2014, Allie laced up her sneakers and sank 84 shots in 30 minutes, raising over $1,100! On February 18th, she presented these funds to Tulin Melton, Vice President of Community Engagement for the American Cancer Society.
