Board ends SuperintendentÕs contract

The Board of Education of the New Haven Unified School District voted on November 4, 2013 to end the contract of Superintendent Kari McVeigh immediately. Chief Academic Officer Dr. Arlando Smith and Chief Business Officer Akur Varadarajan, who have served as interim Co-superintendentÕs since August 23, will continue to do so, as the Board begins the process of identifying a new permanent superintendent. The contract, scheduled to expire in November 2016, has a no-fault buy-out provision providing a maximum 18 months of salary.
