Officer involved shooting

On Saturday, August 31 at about 2:30 p.m., Union City Police Officers were involved in an officer involved shooting. Officers were dispatched to the area of Medallion Drive and Kenita Way after dispatch received multiple 911 calls of an armed subject who reportedly fired several shots from a firearm.
When officers arrived at the scene they were confronted by a subject who had multiple weapons. Officers provided commands to the subject but he did not comply. Fearing for their safety, officers shot the subject and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Alameda County Sheriff/Coroner will attempt to identify the subject and notify next of kin. The officers involved in the shooting will be placed on administrative leave, following department policy after an officer involved shooting.
The incident will be investigated by both the Union City Police Department and the Alameda County District Attorney's Office.
