Auto burglary suspect arrested
Submitted By Lt. Jeff Tudor, San Leandro PD
On July 1, 2013 at approximately 12:23 p.m., a member of the San Leandro Police Departments Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) observed Ronald Beltran of San Leandro breaking into a vehicle at 628 Juana Ave. Beltran smashed in the passenger side window of the victim vehicle and then drove off in his vehicle out of the area. The CSU team member followed Beltran as he was speeding away from the crime scene. As other officers arrived in the area, a traffic stop was conducted on Beltran in the 1400 block of Grand Ave. Beltran was contacted and inside of his vehicle was the loss from the auto burglary which consisted of various children items such as a box of diapers and an infant swing. The victim of the burglary positively identified the items located in Beltran's vehicle as items that belonged to her and that were inside of her vehicle.
Lt. Tudor said "This burglary was committed in the middle of the day at a very populated intersection for vehicle and pedestrian traffic. Please do not keep items of value in plain view in your vehicles. Members of the Crime Suppression Unit, the Patrol Division and Investigations Division have been analyzing crime data so that we are in the right place at the right time to help prevent, deter and arrest those who are committing crimes in San Leandro."
