Scouts make the holidays bright

Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 154, chartered with Holy Spirit Catholic Church (Fremont), participated in the Scouting for Food program on November 10 and 17. The Scouting for Food program is a program to collect food for local food banks to give to needy families. Boy Scouts of America has been a major contributor to the effort to reach out to families in need by organizing two weekends to distribute flyers about the program and later to collect food donated by local homeowners.
On the first weekend, the troop helped Cub Scout Pack 154 hang door flyers in their pack area. Later, the troop put up the door flyers in their own collection area.
During the second weekend, about 20 troop scouts split up into two groups to help Cub Scout Packs 163 and 154 collect food from their two pack areas. Later, the troop collected food from their own area. Almost 2000 items of food from all three areas was collected. The food was collected, sorted and transported to a central point where it will be later distributed to a number of local food banks. |
