June 26, 2012 > Healthy Parks Healthy People Festival Healthy Parks Healthy People Festival Submitted By Isa Polt-Jones Photos By Courtesy of East Bay Regional Park District Bring the family for a day of healthful fun at the Healthy Parks Healthy People Festival, to be held Saturday, June 23, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Quarry Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont. This free festival features outdoor recreation and healthy lifestyle options for families (in partnership with USDA Forest Service). Bring your family members and friends to spend a fun day in the park enjoying entertainment from multicultural performers, guided nature walks, a Kids' Zone with nature programs, arts and crafts, free giveaways, and food vendors. Among our special guests, JE Perry Farms, a local organic farmer operating at Ardenwood Historic Farm in Fremont, will offer organic cooking and urban farming presentations. Cheer for the hip-hop dance group Catalyst, enjoy puppet shows and activities. We'll also showcase the winners of the Get Active! Youth Creative Contest for teens. Entertainment will be provided courtesy of the Dave Crimmen Band, Yang Yang Chinese Dance Troupe, Pacific Junior Chorus, Marinera y Pandilla (Peruvian dance), and Tamalie'l Polynesian Dance Group. An array of organizations will offer information and activities including REI Fremont, California Canoe & Kayak, Sulphur Creek Nature Center, Team in Training, and many more. There will be education, arts and crafts by the East Bay Depot for Creative Reuse, Choi's Martial Arts and others. Purchase delicious food by Conklin's Catering and Naked Chorizo food trucks.
