Men's Volleyball: Logan defeats Kennedy 3-0
Submitted By Coach Steve Burmaster
A very much improved Kennedy team came into Guy Emanuele Pavilion April 24 expecting to play well and challenge the "Colts" for a shot at second place in the Mission Valley Athletic League.
Despite a lot of firepower and good defense by Kennedy, the "Colts" prevailed by coming back from deficits in all three games to win: 25-22, 25-23, 28-26.
The difference was the mental toughness and execution of plays at key points in each of the games. In addition, the "Colts" proved to have better ball control from all of the members on the floor as evidenced by a diving, sprawling one arm stab in the back row my Sophomore Middle Blocker, Khrystien Ocampo that was a "game changer" in the important second game of the match with the Colt's striving to regain the lead late in the game... his dig propelled the team to three straight unanswered points and the Game 2 victory! Later, in Game 3, Khrystien dove hard for another dig while in the front row and suffered a deep bruise to the edge of his palm. Alvin Nguyen was called in as a replacement and did a marvelous job of patrolling the net and containing some of Kennedy's most powerful hitters.
