HaYOUth! Hayward Youth Summit
Submitted By Alex Harmon
HaYOUth! Come learn leadership and job skills, talk to college representatives, meet like-minded youth and meet special guests from the city and local government at the 2012 Youth Summit sponsored by the Hayward Youth Commission.
The summit will be held at Hayward City Hall, 777 B Street, on Saturday, April 28 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission is free and lunch and refreshments will be served. City Hall is located just footsteps away from the Hayward BART Station and accessible from AC transit bus lines.
Interested? Your Saturday will fly by as you improve your leadership skills and network among your peers in the early part of the day and enjoy lunch time entertainment by local youth poets. Spend the rest of your day with friends. Who knows you just might bump into an old friend or meet a new one.
The HaYOUth Summit was created by youth for youth in Hayward. The Hayward Youth Commission is a 17-member board that advises the Mayor and City Council, and the elected boards of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District (HARD) and Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) about issues that affect young people in the Hayward community.
Representatives on the commission are appointed for two year terms and range in age from middle school through aged 20. Meetings are held on the first and third Mondays of the month during the school year.
