Santa Clara County to Discuss Revisions to the Peddler's Permit
Submitted By Steven Blomquist
At the request of Supervisor Dave Cortese, the Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a recommendation to refine the county's permit process for those who sell their wares in neighborhoods and communities. "I have received numerous complaints from residents about theft crimes and the inability to determine when strangers are lawfully in neighborhoods," said Cortese. "Revising these rules will make it easier for our communities to monitor legitimate salespersons and keep their communities safe."
The possible revisions include clarifying when a peddler's permit is required and by whom. This would allow residents and neighborhood watch groups to be able to deter theft by more easily identifying the reasons for strangers to be in their communities and reporting offenders to law enforcement. |
