Senate Majority Leader Ellen M. Corbett (D-San Leandro) hosted the finalists of the 2011 "Habitat Means Home" art contest at a reception at her San Leandro district office on January 27, 2012.
"I am proud to host this annual event that highlights the artistic talent of students in Fremont, Newark and Union City and shows off the immense beauty and diversity of our natural environment," Corbett said. "Once again, we were amazed by the beauty of the submissions we received."
The "Habitat Means Home" poster contest encourages students to submit artwork that celebrates the diverse habitats and species of Coyote Hills Regional Park, while highlighting the importance of environmental preservation. Students in grades K-6 participate in the contest.
Sponsors of the event are the East Bay Regional Park District, the Citizens Committee to Complete the Refuge, the Ohlone Audubon Society, the Friends of Coyote Hills and Carin High. For more information, visit www.sen.ca.gov/corbett
