Newark Optimist Club essay contest

The Newark Optimist Club, in conjunction with Optimist International, invites students to enter the 2011-2012 Essay Contest. Youths, under the age of 19 as of December 31, are eligible to enter.
This year's topic is: "How my positive outlook benefits my community." Essays should be 700 - 800 words in length and must be received by the Newark Optimist Club on or before January 30, 2012.
Club winners will be announced in mid February. An official medallion and a cash prize ($200, $125, and $75 respectively) will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners.
The first place club essay will be sent to the District competition where the winner will be awarded a $2,500 college scholarship.
