Tri-City Documentaries presents Speaking Freely
Submitted By Jane Bark
For many years, John Perkins, author of "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" and "Hoodwinked", was an "economic hit man" in the world of international finance, persuading Third World countries to take on large-scale public works projects. Today we recognize that these types of projects, financed by the World Bank and IMF, have served to enrich U.S. corporations while creating crippling debt for these countries, effectively turning them into American client states. Experiencing a change of heart, Perkins resigned in 1981 and has since been speaking out about globalization and inequality around the world.
Come and discover how the events and strategies of thirty years ago described in the film are strikingly similar to those occurring today in Greece, Italy, Ireland, etc.
There will be a discussion following the film.
