Heat up with Sun Gallery

Submitted By Christine Bender

"El Color Caliente de la Cultura - The Hot Color of Culture" will heat up the main gallery of Hayward's Sun Gallery from October 5 - November 19. This exhibition will explore the concept of vibrant color and its influence on Hispanic cultures. Color is a means to convey emotional and spiritual expressions and feelings. When you think of Latin America, you think of vibrant living color and warm tropical tones. Color symbolizes many different ideas and portrays multicultural themes without words. The beautiful colors used in Latin American art have influenced artists around the world, and this exhibition will present works of art that highlight that influence on the use of color.

The participating artists come from all cultures, but each one uses color in an intensely expressive way. Work will be on display from Gary Paul Barbossa Prince, Montana Murdoch, D'arci Bruno, Michelle Ritchie, Elizabeth Rojas, Vasanthi Victor, Amiee Johnson, Jacqueline Cooper, Marjorie Wagner, Ian Sammis, Tina Banda, Deborah Vinograd, and Sarah Sammis. Please check for a full list of participating artists.

An artist reception is planned for Saturday, November 5 from 3 p.m. - 7 p.m. with food, music, and dance performances.
