September 30, 2011 > Become a docent, make a difference Become a docent, make a difference Submitted By Wendy Winsted Do you enjoy interacting with people and are you interested in learning to work with wildlife? If so, join the enthusiastic team of wildlife docents at Sulphur Creek Nature Center. Docents play a vital role in educating people about the wildlife around them and inspiring ways to peacefully co-exist. As a docent, you will learn the natural history of local wildlife, how to handle domestic and wild animals and ways to use professional, interpretive techniques to convey your knowledge and enthusiasm to others. Docents help connect the community with wildlife by participating in schools programs, rest-home programs, festivals and special events. Training is offered on an on-going basis, applications are currently being accepted and interviews will begin on November 2, 2011. Registration is $60 and includes a T-shirt, nametag and training material. Sulphur Creek Nature Center is located at 1801 D Street, Hayward, and is under the auspices of the Hayward Area Recreation and Park District.
