Children's Choir begins inaugural season
Submitted By Jennifer Carini
The Tri-City Children's Choir is a new choir being formed for children who love to sing a variety of music, from religious music of many traditions, to folk songs, classical, contemporary, pop, and songs in foreign languages. It is the choir's desire that the music learned reflect the diversity of the Tri-City area.
All children entering 2nd - 6th grade are welcome to join the choir. There is no vocal audition; your child cannot be turned away. The first rehearsal - free of charge - will be held Tuesday, September 6 from 6 p.m. - 7 p.m. at St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 2791 Driscoll Road in Fremont.
Artistic Director of the Tri-City Children's Choir is Jennifer Carini who has been directing children's choirs since 1993. A graduate of Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, she has performed in choirs with famous musicians including Riccardo Muti, Joseph Flummerfelt, Yo-Yo Ma, and Luciano Pavarotti.
Besides working with the Tri-City Children's Choir, Carini is Choir Director at Cesar Chavez Middle School in Union City and Assistant Choir Director at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Fremont. "I love teaching kids how to sing, and there really isn't a community choir for kids in the Tri-City area! I hope that all the kids in Fremont, Newark, and Union City who want to sing come to our first rehearsal and see what fun we are going to have together!"
The first rehearsal, September 6, is free to all! Tuition for following months is $50 per month, due at the first rehearsal of each month. If a family has more than one child participating in the choir, a 10 percent discount will apply for each additional child.
