Free CERT Program
Submitted By Thor Poulsen
Hayward Fire Department's forthcoming Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Training Program consists of four evening indoor classes and an outdoor "hands-on" skills class. Participants learn skills to be able to provide emergency assistance to their families and immediate neighbors and organize a neighborhood team response. Training will begin at the end of September 2011.
Participants must be 18 years or older and attend ALL classes to receive certification. CERT training is for all City of Hayward and Fairview residents. Proof of residence will be required during the final application process.
To sign-up for this free training, visit the City of Hayward's Disaster Preparedness website at http://tinyurl.com/44exq4f, then click on the green "CERT" button. Residents will then need to enter only their name, phone number and address in an email. They will receive email-acknowledgement of their enrollment in the program and further directions. Alternatively, contact Thor Poulsen, Public Education Officer at (510) 583-4948.
