Tools 4 School
Submitted By Janette Bormann
The Alameda County Tools 4 School Collaborative, founded in 2003, is a network of community-based, county and city organizations and businesses concerned about education, and dedicated to providing Alameda County's most impoverished students, including kids in foster care, with the basic school supplies they need to participate actively in learning.
Tools 4 School relies on the donated time, talent and resources of these community and business partners, who donate their time and resources throughout the year, including Child Welfare Workers who take time to identify kids on their caseloads in need of backpacks and school supplies. The Collaborative's members are committed to identifying youth in need by conducting outreach for supply donations, assembling the school supply packs and distributing backpacks filled with supplies.
Join the Tools 4 School effort. Participants can be an important part of this by donating their time to assemble backpacks and, starting at 9 a.m., assist with bringing supplies from the store room in the Rotunda at Hayward City Hall on Friday, August 12, 2011; by donating school supplies such as notebooks and filler paper and by donating food and beverages for the hard-working volunteers. All volunteers should be at least high school-age.
Anyone wishing to make a tax deductible donation (Tax ID# 94-6000501) can mail their check (payable to "AC CAPC-T4S") to: Tools 4 School, C/O Janette Bormann, Alameda County Child Abuse Prevention Council, 24100 Amador, Suite 357, Hayward, CA 94544. The entire donation will go directly to purchase needed supplies.
