On 07/28/11 at about 12:45 PM, Union City Police was dispatched to the area of Fourth Street between "D" and "E" Street on a report of shooting. Upon police arrival, witnesses reported an exchange of gunfire between two groups. Suspect and vehicle descriptions were obtained and broadcast to responding Officers.

An Officer responding to the scene saw a vehicle matching the description from one of the involved parties. A traffic stop was conducted and the occupants were detained. During the investigation, UCPD learned that a local hospital was treating a gunshot victim from Union City. As a result of the investigation all the occupants of the vehicle were arrested.

The victim is an 18-year-old Hispanic male from Union City. His injuries (single gunshot wound) are non-life threatening and he is in stable condition at a local hospital.

Based on physical evidence and witness statements, the police department believes approximately 20 to 30 people were involved in the argument before the shooting. The total number of suspects and/ or victims is unknown.

UCPD has identified some involved parties from one group involved in the gunfight. The police department is trying to identify additional victim(s) and/ or witnesses.
