Submitted By Steven Blomquist
The second "Day on the Bay Festival" at the Alviso Marina is now being organized. Last year over 4,000 attended and had a great time. This year, Santa Clara County Supervisor Cortese, in partnership with the Santa Clara County Parks Department, invites everyone to the Second Day on the Bay: A Multicultural Festival on Saturday, September 17 at Alviso Marina County Park.
Day on the Bay brings people together to enjoy activities, rich in diversity and talent, and abundant in ethnic expression. This festival will include FREE hamburgers, FREE flu shots, and FREE pumpkins for kids (while supplies last), as well as arts and crafts and live multicultural entertainment. There will also be an informational fair for attendees to learn about local nonprofits, businesses and local government in addition to information on health, wellness and green living.
Booth space is open to non-profits, community based organizations and businesses that would like to present information to residents of Santa Clara County and the community of Alviso. Local school and community groups are invited to provide 20-30 minutes of entertainment on one of two stages during the festival. Those interested in signing up for a booth or entertainment can fill out a form found at: http://bit.ly/DayontheBay or call (408) 299-5030.
To ensure that the festival is successful, Supervisor Cortese is looking for volunteers to help out at the event. Specific volunteer activities may include set up and tear down of the booths and stages, parking guidance, food service, booth check in, and general help. Volunteer hours can be applied to school or community organization service hours. If you would like to sign up to be a volunteer, please fill out a form found at: http://bit.ly/DayontheBay or call (408) 299-5030.
