Treeview Dolphins come up just short
Submitted By Tammy Ortega
After a week of great weather with fun in the sun the California weather changed to gloomy and cold at this past Saturday's (July 9) East Bay Swim League dual meet between the Treeview Dolphins and Chabot Marlins. Although the sun did peak later in the afternoon most parents put away their sunscreen and once again children were wearing their team parka's and jackets to keep warm.
Thirty swimmers short, the Treeview Dolphins fought for every point they could get in this past week's meet; Chabot Marlins prevailed for a final score of 581-451 with close races and excellent swimmers. This week's swimmers of the meet for Treeview were Delaney Wilson and Paul Stockinger for 10 and under, and Joshua Nacu for the 11 and up.
Following Saturday's meet the Treeview Dolphins hosted their Family Fun Night event, one of the biggest events of the season. Family Fun Night is a night for the team to come together and have different types of family-related races such as the family relay, doggy paddle and the most anticipated belly flop contest. With most swim teams, money can be short and Family Fun Night brings in donations from local business and families which are auctioned off to raise money for the team. Some of this year's winnings included gift certificates, movie tickets and an electric scooter.
With only a couple of meets left until the July 30 EBSL Championships at Chabot College, swimmers are doing their best to enjoy the little bit of time they have left in the season. On Saturday, July 16, the Treeview Dolphins will host the Castro Valley Crocodiles in their Halloween-themed attire.
