On Saturday, July 9, the Kennedy Seals welcomed the Mission Valley Barracudas to their home pool at American High School for the fifth dual meet of the East Bay Swim League season. Even with the cloudy sky, the Barracudas had positive and spirited thoughts buzzing in their heads before the meet started, as they knew they were competing against a strong team.
Before the meet started, the Barracudas shouted their team's Color Shout. Also as a funny catch, the Seals imitated the Barracuda Color Shout, but used their own team colors instead. Throughout the meet, the team points were very close, but in the end, the Barracudas were able to bring themselves to another win, bringing their season mark to 5-0.
At this meet, a number of swimmers improved their times. The following swimmers on the Barracudas bettered their time by more than four seconds: In freestyle, Ryan Young improved his time by over four seconds; in backstroke, Steven Liu took off 4.48 seconds from his time and Catherine Melnarik took off almost six seconds off her time; in breaststroke Gabriella Rachal improved her time by 5.65 seconds; and in individual medley, which is one lap of each stroke, Mayuri Jayaraman and Jane Huynh took off more than five seconds each off their times, and Michael Conn took off more than four and a half seconds off his time.
Congratulations to all of you!
With only two more dual meets left, the Barracudas look forward to the next meet against the Newark Bluefins at their home pool on Saturday, July 16.
