Newark seniors have regained their home away from home. Following victory of the Utility Users Tax Measure U at the polls, some of the resulting funds have been used to restore the Senior Center. Although an interesting experience, sharing quarters with the Teen Center at Silliman Center, most Seniors agree that dedicated space to their needs is preferable.

Newark Recreation and Community Services staff have been hard at work for months refurbishing and cleaning the venerable facility and as of Tuesday, July 5, computer activities, classes, lunches, relaxation and leisure will resume. Grand opening celebration festivities will be held Tuesday, July 19, but when the front door is open, who wants to wait? Welcome back Seniors!
