Schwob appointed Interim Community Development Director

Jeff Schwob was appointed new Interim Director of Community Development for City of Fremont on Monday, May 2. In his new role, he oversees the Building, Planning, Community Preservation, and Housing and Redevelopment divisions, as well as the City's one-stop permit shop: the Development Services Center. He replaces Bob Beyer, who has served as the acting director since October of 2010. Jeff's most recent position with the City of Fremont was Planning Director.
Prior to his current assignment, Jeff served as Planning Director, Deputy Planning Manager, Senior Planner and Zoning Administrator for Fremont wherein he contributed to the Niles and Irvington Concept Plans, the 2001-2006 Housing Element, implementation of the Hill Area Initiative, the original and subsequent Affordable Housing Ordinances. Prior to coming to Fremont in 1999, Jeff worked in the cities of Santa Rosa and San Rafael, Alameda County, and the University of Oregon Housing Office.
Jeff received his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon and is a member of both the American Planning Association and the American Institute of Certified Planners.
