Fremont Hosts Veteran's Health and Resource Fair
The City of Fremont Human Services Department, in partnership with Veteran's Affairs, will host its second Veteran's Health and Resource Fair on Saturday, May 7. The fair will bring together over 50 agencies representing an array of public services, non-profit service providers and private businesses. At this "one stop" event, veterans and their families will be able to sign up for veteran services; meet representatives from an array of colleges, universities and vocational schools; learn about entitlement programs including low-income housing, financial counseling, health and mental health services, and other benefit programs. A select group of vendors will address the unique needs of women veterans as well as how veterans and community members can advocate for ongoing veteran services.
Helping veterans access needed services and opportunities is a priority for our community as Alameda County is home to more veterans than almost any other community in the U.S. The event is open to veterans of all ages, their family members, and family members who have lost a loved one to combat. Family members of active duty service personnel may also want to attend the fair to learn about present and future resources. For more information on the event, contact the Human Services Department at 574-2063.
