Weather helps police put the freeze on fleeing man

Submitted By AP Wire Service

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP), Mar 28 - The frigid weather worked for Fort Wayne police but against a shivering man suspected of stealing a motorcycle.

The Journal Gazette of Fort Wayne reported Monday that a half-hour, high-speed chase involving a 19-year-old man and police ended when the cyclist stopped, well, cold.

Police say the man could no longer see during the Sunday chase on Interstate 69 because of the frigid air blasting into his unprotected eyes. He was arrested and taken to a hospital for treatment.

He faces fleeing and theft charges.

The temperature was below 40 degrees at the time of the chase.
