Fremont offers teen running club
Submitted By Joe Benjamin, City of Fremont Recreation Supervisor
Fremont is offering a new Teen Running Club program for youths ages 13 to 18 this spring. This is another great way for a young athlete to become a better runner or just learn how to run for the fun of it.
Those who participate in the club will come away learning new things, including proper foot strike, body position, forward lean, leg turnover, proper run warm-up and running drills. These are skills that experienced runners - such as USA Triathlon (USAT) certified level one coach for Snap Fitness, Eric Roodhouse, who will be the running instructor for the club - know and use. No running experience is necessary.
Running shoes and attire are required. If you don't have running shoes yet, don't worry. Instructor Roodhouse will be addressing what to look for when purchasing shoes at the first meeting.
Teen Running Club classes will be held at Snap Fitness at 43480 Mission Blvd., Suite 160, in Fremont. There will be three separate sessions: the first session will be eight classes and starts April 4, concluding April 27 and costs $159; second session is nine classes from May 2 to 30, and costs $179; and the third and final session, nine classes, runs June 1 to 29, and costs $179. Each session will hold classes on Mondays and Wednesdays.
