Police are looking for two suspects involved in a strong-armed robbery reported on Wednesday afternoon, March 21 at about 1:10 p.m. in the area of 4144 Bay Street. The suspects robbed a woman of her purse and then fled on foot. Police describe the suspects as two black males, last seen wearing black sweat shirts and saggy blue jeans. The Victim reported the loss of a purple leather purse, wallet, and money.
Arrowhead Liquors robbed
Two suspects walked into Arrowhead Liquors on Wednesday, March 21 at about 5:40 p.m. and robbed it at gunpoint. A customer who was in his vehicle in the parking lot witnessed the robbery. He followed the suspects on Lake Arrowhead and then south on Great Salt Lake. Police describe the fleeing suspects as black males in their early twenties. One of the suspects is about 5'6" tall, skinny and was last seen wearing a black hoodie and mask over his face. The other suspect is six feet tall with a goatee and was wearing a black hoodie.
A 23-year-old driver was arrested for DUI. He turned onto Curtner Road from Mission Blvd. at an unsafe speed and the vehicle tumbled about 50 feet down the embankment into the nearby creek. The driver and passenger suffered minor injuries. Officer Stillitano investigated the case.
Another DUI incident occurred on Saturday, March 19. Officer Holguin arrested a driver for DUI when a single vehicle collision was reported near the center island at Fremont Blvd. and Decoto Road.
In an accident reported on Friday, March 18 a vehicle lost control while passing a dump truck on Mission Blvd. South of Paseo Padre Parkway. The vehicle struck a tree causing significant injuries to the driver who was the sole occupant. The dump truck driver stopped to assist forgot to put his vehicle into "park" and his truck then rolled into the first car. Both drivers sustained broken ribs and internal injuries.
A suspect stole an Iphone from the AT&T store. Store employees turned on the phone's GPS, and officers spent some time attempting to find the suspect. The phone has not been located.
Robbery at McDonalds
Four suspects robbed McDonalds near Fremont Blvd. and Mowry Avenue. All suspects were black males, armed with handguns. Employees reported loss of a laptop computer and cash from the safe.
Woman assaulted by ex-boyfriend
Police arrested a 22-year-old man for assaulting his ex-girlfriend. The incident was reported on Friday, March 18 at the El Camino Real bar in Niles. The victim alleged that she was attacked with a broken bottle and her ex-boyfriend brandished a pistol at her. Officer Layfield found the suspect at 2nd and F Streets. The suspect was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, terrorist threats, and brandishing a weapon.
On Saturday, March 19 a male drove his vehicle into a home in the 39600 block of Blacow Road. Only property damage was reported. Officer Shannon investigated the case.
Police arrested a suspect for an attempted stabbing. The incident was reported on Sunday, March 20 at CJ's Liquors. According to witnesses, the suspect was inside the store, drunk and viewing magazines when the clerk asked him to leave. A fight ensued between the suspect and a customer and the suspect left the store yelling at the customer. He returned a few minutes later, and tried to stab the customer with a knife. The suspect left a few minutes after a short struggle. He was spotted near Denny's and detained by Officer Manrique.
