Attempted kidnapping suspect sought

Union City Police are seeking public's help in searching for a suspect wanted in connection with an attempted kidnapping. Police describe the suspect as a black male adult, about 20 years old, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-8, with a skinny build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black baggy jeans and white tennis shoes, running toward the BART station.
The incident was reported on Thursday, March 17 at about 6 p.m. when the 16-year-old girl alleged that she was attacked as she walked home from school. The victim was walking southbound on Union Square toward the BART station at about 5 p.m. when she noticed a man standing alone near the rear parking lot of McDonald's.
The man grabbed her around her neck and midsection but she was able to free herself. The victim's name has been withheld since she is a juvenile.
