FBI statistics show crime decline in Milpitas

According to FBI statistics released recently, violent crime - murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault - for 2010 dropped by 6.2 percent for the city of Milpitas. Statistics take into account a population increase of 1.45 percent; 740 additional residents from 2009 to 2010.
Figures for 2010 indicate that violent crime rate decreased 31.77 percent when compared to 2009 figures, taking into account population increase. According to California Department of Finance, population estimates, the City's 2010 population was 71,552 compared to 70,812 residents in 2009.
According to the FBI Crimes Index released recently: Rape cases spiked to nine last year as opposed to six in 2009. Robberies declined from 59 to 53 Aggravated Assault declined from 65 to 29 Burglary declined from 275 to 264 cases Theft cases dropped from 1,562 in 2009 to 1,461 in 2010 Auto Thefts increased from 215 cases to 256 No homicides were reported in Milpitas during 2010 |
