Thank You from OneChild
Sometime in November, 2010, Angus Cochran of Washington Hospital contacted us [OneChild] representing his management group of close to 100 managers at the hospital. They wanted to give Christmas gifts to the children of OneChild. Beth Wong of OneChild coordinated with Giselle Vieto of Healthy Start who contacted, I believe, 75 families to obtain children's ages, sizes, and what they wanted for Christmas.
The Wednesday before Christmas, the managers had their Christmas party and we were invited to come and collect the gifts. Angus called and asked me to come a little early. I cannot explain how incredible it was to walk into the room and see one entire wall covered by gifts piled on top of each other in beautifully wrapped paper. Three children asked for bikes; a couple bought those along with helmets and big bags filled with other gifts. It brought tears to my eyes and each time I think of it, I again am very emotional. I imagined the faces of the children when they saw all their gifts!
Angus and his crew filled a truck with the gifts and we followed them over to Healthy Start to help unload. Giselle and her staff and Beth were filled with excitement when they realized the extent of these gifts.
Angus and his staff went out of their way to make sure that the children had a really happy Christmas. We are so very grateful. I cannot thank them enough.
