Optimist Essay Contest

Optimist International is an international service club dedicated to bringing out the best in our youth. Each year, the Newark Optimist Club in conjunction with Optimist International, hosts an Essay Contest for Tri-City students. The topic this year is: "How my Education is the Key to a Successful Life."
The contest is open to students under age 19 as of December 31, 2010. The essay must contain at least 700 words, but no more than 800. Essays should be received by the Optimist Club no later than January 17, 2011. If more time is needed, students may call Denise Fullerton, Essay Chairman, to discuss an extension.
Cash awards of $200, $125, and $75 will be awarded for the top three essays. The first place winner will have the opportunity to enter the District Contest in which the First Place Scholarship is $2,500.
