December 31, 2010 > Hit and run Hit and run By Meenu Gupta Police arrested a 19-year-old Hispanic male for felony drunk driving and felony hit and run, on Friday, December 24th, at Mowry and Peralta. According to Sgt. Chris Mazzone it initially looked like a single vehicle accident, possibly a hit and run till Officers saw a female passenger with significant injuries. The driver had fled from the scene. Officer Foster later located the driver in front of Waterside Apartments. He has been identified as Hayward resident Fidel Zamora. According to Police, Zamora had a gunshot wound to the upper left thigh and was uncooperative and intoxicated. Both the female passenger and Zamora were taken to Eden Medical Center for medical attention. The investigation so far indicates that the driver accidentally shot himself while in the car. The handgun has not been located. Neither Zamora nor the passenger provided any information about the shooting. Zamora was arrested and taken to Santa Rita after being medically cleared.
