Chabot wrestler wins All-American in States

Chabot College wrestler Craig Sherman earned All-American status in the California Community College State Wrestling Championships which took place Thursday, Dec. 9, through Saturday, Dec. 11, at Victor Valley College in Victorville. Sherman, of Oakland, is a graduate of Oakland Technical High School.
Chabot College sent five wrestlers and an alternate to the championships. Following are the results: Sherman (157 lbs.), an unranked wrestler, placed third in the state and also became an All-American; Janik Santana (125), an unranked wrestler, placed sixth in the state; Alex Williams (133), an unranked wrestler, placed sixth in the state; Milo Anderson (184), ranked fifth in the state, but after getting injured in his quarterfinals match, ended up placing seventh in the state.
The top four places at the state championships earn All-American status. As a team, Chabot placed 10th in the state. Fresno State won the championship with a score of 148.5. |
