Radiology department recognized nationally
Submitted By Pamela Russo, St. Rose Hospital Foundation
St. Rose Hospital Radiology department has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation for Obstetrics and Vascular Ultrasound services from the American College of Radiology (ARC).
Granted to healthcare facilities that demonstrate state-of-the-art services and equipment, this accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and is awarded to facilities that meet the stringent ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards.
"We are very proud of this accomplishment, which demonstrates the hospital's long-standing commitment to providing high quality care with focus on women's services," said Michael Mahoney, President and CEO of St. Rose Hospital. "It is fortunate that our patients have access to specialists and the highest level of expertise in care, right here in the Hayward community," adds Mahoney.
The process of accreditation is an arduous one, including a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, staff competence, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are some of the factors assessed when facilities apply to be selected for the accreditation.
"It takes a great deal of commitment and determination to earn and maintain ARC accreditation," says Doug Davis, Director of Diagnostic Imaging at St. Rose Hospital. "All of us at St. Rose are extremely pleased and proud to have received this accreditation, as it reflects the commitment, dedication and competencies of our skilled hospital staff and physicians."
