Submitted By Robert Douglas
On Saturday, November 13, at approximately 10 p.m., the Newark Police Department received multiple 911 calls from customers and employees at Chuck E. Cheese's reporting an armed robbery in progress. Arriving Newark Police Officers set up a perimeter around the business while Newark Police Dispatch maintained contact with the victims inside.
Victims relayed that three armed suspects had entered Chuck E. Cheese's at closing time and herded over 40 customers (including children) and employees into a storeroom. The victims communicated they were unsure if the suspects were still in the business. An team of police officers entered the business to secure the safety of the trapped victims and the building was evacuated. None of the victims were injured. It appeared the suspects had fled prior to police arrival. Fremont Police Officers assisted with securing the perimeter and the entry of the business.
Patrons and employees at the nearby Chevy's restaurant were asked to shelter in place until it was safe for them to leave.
