Fresh & Easy coming to northern California

Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, a subsidiary of UK retailer Tesco PLC, the world's third largest retailer after Wal-Mart and Carrefour plans to open stores in the San Francisco Bay Area served by a distribution center in the Central Valley. The company operates more than 150 stores in California, Arizona and Nevada.
Fresh & Easy is currently hiring for 12 stores, including Hayward, set to open early in 2011. More than 275 employees are expected to be hired. Applications are currently being accepted at www.FreshAndEasy.com/joinus for employment at Concord (Clayton Road and Ygnacio Valley Road), Danville (Diablo Boulevard and I-680), Hayward (Mission Boulevard and Rousseau Street), Modesto (Oakdale Road and Lancey Drive), Napa (Imola Avenue and Jefferson Street), Pacifica (Cabrillo Hwy and Linda Mar Boulevard) Pleasanton (Rosewood Drive and Santa Rita Road), San Francisco (32nd Avenue and Clement Street), San Jose (Bird Avenue and Minnesota Avenue; Saratoga Avenue and Payne Avenue), Vacaville (Elmira Road and Nut Tree Road) and Walnut Creek (Ygnacio Valley Road).
Each store will employ 20 to 25 people, with entry-level positions starting at $10 an hour in California. The company also offers quarterly bonuses of up to 10 percent, a 401(k) with company match, a generous paid time off (PTO) program and life-skills training. The company is environmentally conscious. On average, Fresh & Easy stores use 30 percent less energy than a typical supermarket. Not only does this help the environment, customers see lower grocery prices. Each store has a sales floor of approximately 10,000 sq. ft., smaller than an average supermarket in the US.
