Urged by family and friends to finally give up on his 1979 Datsun hatchback with over 300,000 miles on the odometer, he couldn't bring himself to sell it, trade it or give it away. His perseverance finally paid off as friends, family and others who participated in the Alliance Credit Union "Ugly Car Contest" voted his vehicle as the winner and recipient of $5,000. As he accepted the oversized check, Bob finally relented and said a new or used car will be the result.
