Kidango marches to demand a state budget
Kidango, a local, State-funded child development agency, led a march along Mission Boulevard in Fremont termed "Closure for a Cause" Wednesday morning protesting the delay of the California State Budget. Demonstrating the impact of childcare, all 41 Kidango child development centers closed for the day. The State stopped paying for services on July 1, 2010. Marching with Kidango were supporters and employees of 4C's Alameda County, BAHIA, Inc., Bananas, Child Care Links, Emergency Shelter Program (ESP), Estrella Family Services, Martinez Child Development Centers, Parent Voices, San Jose Day Nursery and others. The demonstration culminated in a rally at the California State Building in Oakland. |
