Chabot wrestling places sixth at West Hills Tourney

Chabot College's wrestling team went to Lemoore on Saturday, Sept. 25, and placed sixth at the West Hills Wrestling Tournament.
Chabot had four wrestlers who placed in the tournament. At the 125-pound weight class, Janik Santana made it to the semifinal match only to lose to Sergio Martinez (Fresno City) in an exciting match which he lost in the last 12 seconds by a score of 10-12.
But Santana came back in his next match, the consolation semis, and beat Abror Adilov (Sierra) by a score of 6-5 to advance to the consolation finals match. In the consolation finals match, Santana wrestled against Chris Padilla (Fresno City) and lost by a score of 3-2 to end up placing fourth in the tournament.
Another Chabot wrestler to reach the semifinal championship match was 184-pound Milo Anderson. Anderson wrestled against Fito Juarez (Fresno City) and lost by a score of 5-3. Anderson also then made it to the consolation semifinals match in which he wrestled against Nick Gil (Sierra) and again lost by a score of 7-2.
He then received a forfeit in his match for fifth place. Other Chabot wrestlers to place in the tournament were freshmen Alex Zonio (165), who finished sixth, and Andre Bulatao (197). Bulato defeated Jamal Lewis (Cerritos) by a score of 14-7 to place fifth.
Fresno City College, 155.5 points, finished atop the tournament, with Cerritos (132.5), West Hills College (96.5), Sierra College (82) and Shasta College (38.5) ahead of Chabot (21.5). Lassen rounded out the seven-team field with 9.5 points.
Chabot's wrestling team will travel to Santa Rosa on Friday, Oct. 1, to wrestle against Santa Rosa College, beginning at 4 p.m.
