Alameda County Board of Education accepting applications for vacancy

Applications are now being accepted by the County Office of Education for a vacancy on the Alameda County Board of Education. This vacancy was created by the death of the board member representing area 4. This is a two-year provisional appointment. Elections for this board seat will take place in June of 2012.
The Alameda County Board of Education consists of seven members, each elected from a different area of the county. Board members are elected for four-year terms and must be registered voters in their respective areas.
In order to qualify, an applicant must be:
A registered voter in Alameda County;
A resident of area 4: San Leandro and the western unincorporated communities of Ashland, Castro Valley, Cherryland, San Lorenzo and Fairview;
Not employed by any K-12 public institution in Alameda County.
Application and description of duties are now available online. Applications, including current resume must be emailed or hand-delivered to the HR Department, Room 173, Alameda County Office of Education, 313 West Winton Avenue, Hayward, CA 94544 by 12 noon on October 8. The Board of Education will screen applications for qualified applicants and will interview candidates during their regular board meeting on October 12. The Board of Education will announce their selection during their regular board meeting on October 26.
