Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight
This week the player spotlight finds the multi-faceted athletics of Jamie Kennerk.
This young lady lives her life like a tri-athlete. Kennerk is a trained swimmer who excels at the butterfly stroke, a center on a volleyball team, soccer goalie, basketball player and tap dancer. When it comes to sports she does it all, all of the time.
Jamie spends the entire summer competing in the pool for East Bay Swim League at her favorite sport of swimming and has been on a swim team for a solid five seasons. When the swim season is over the land competition begins. Then it's game-on year-round for her with overlapping sport activities so extra workouts are never necessary; as if she would even have time for them.
Now 13 and an eighth grade student at Thornton Jr. High School she claims math to be her favorite subject. Jamie does have a plan for herself and that's to head straight to Stanford Medical School to become a doctor with a wish to cure what ails others.
For the fun side of life she considers her sporting activities as pure enjoyment and at the top. In between you can hear her singing to her favorite tunes. She also stays actively engaged in Facebook and regularly communicates with her friends for fun via that utility. Family is most important to her and summer time reunions to stay in touch are an annual event that she really looks forward to with her mom and dad.
Healthy food for fuel and fun is important and Jamie is quick to order a steak whenever given a choice and for dessert she'll call out for frozen yogurt of the cookies and cream variety.
