Bill Mancebo's Player Spotlight

This week the player spotlight shines on soccer sensation Sonja Neumeister.

Beginning with FC Fremont Soccer Club and playing since age 6, soccer is the stuff for Neumeister. Sonja works hard and is nearing perfection on her maneuvers as a midfielder and at defense. She's tried her hand at baseball but the game didn't interest her in any way. When she reflects on her past baseball experience she says it seems insignificant compared to her current soccer lifestyle.

Sonja currently graces the field with full force for the Newark Thunderstorms and works out almost every day to keep in peak performance. She also maintains a strict goal to become a professional women's soccer star wishing to reside and play in Germany.

Now 13, Neumeister likes to keep it physical with PE as a favorite subject and English running a close second at Centerville Jr. High. When she's not busy with her studies you'll find her hanging out with some friends or catching some private time at the family cabin tucked away in California's gold country.

Sonja knows what she likes when it comes to food and she's quick to order chile verde followed by a heaping bowl of ice cream.
