Emerging artist showcases art
By Mona Shah
Amanda Brook Lee developed a passion for art at an early age. Lee has loved drawing since she could hold a crayon, and developed her painting skills at Jan's Art Studio in Fremont when she was nine years old. At 13, she discovered Chinese watercolor painting using an art kit her Aunt Ursula gave her for her birthday. She was hooked and started Chinese watercolor classes at Ichen Art Studio in Fremont shortly thereafter.
Lee's painting began with landscapes and have expanded to include her favorite subjects - large, fierce animals, like dinosaurs, dragons, and tigers. Her art has perspective, shadow, and reflection that demonstrate abilities far beyond her years.
Born in Fremont, Lee graduated from Mission High School in 2009. She has won numerous awards for her Chinese watercolor art including first place in the 5th New Century International Youth Fine Art Contest, second place in the 4th New Century International Youth Fine Art Contest, and finalist in the 16th and 17th Annual All-American Youth Chinese Brush Painting and Calligraphy Competition.
The artist will have two of her tigers on display along with horses, landscapes with buildings, a dragon, and more.
