Flight to Freedom celebration
Submitted By Wendy Winsted and Rose Britton Photos By Rose Britton
This is a celebration not to miss! Relax under the oaks and enjoy an evening of wine, beer, and great food, then witness two young great-horned owls make their first "flight to freedom." The first owl was found in May with a broken femur. The second was found in June, skinny and with an infection in both eyes. The owlets were brought to Sulphur Creek Nature Center's wildlife hospital where they thrived under the Center's expert care. Now, fully-grown and healthy, they are ready to spread their wings and live wild and free.
Help us celebrate this first flight with live Hawaiian music and dancing by "Nani and Friends," behind the scene tours, and live animal appearances. Contributors include Buffalo Bill's Brew Pub, Thomas Coyne Winery, Westover Vineyards, Owl Ridge Wines, and Phoenix Glass. This is a fundraising event benefiting the wildlife programs at Sulphur Creek Nature Center. The event is Saturday, August 28 at 6:30 p.m. at the Nature Center. Tickets are $70 a person and can be ordered by calling (510) 881-6747. Tickets are running out, so order now!
